AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi asserted in Hyderabad on Friday that after receiving a formal diplomatic invitation from Tehran, Prime Minister Narendra Modi should himself attend the funeral of Iran's martyred Supreme Leader (who was recently killed in an Israeli military action) and not send a delegation. He said India should show its strategic strength and categorically refuse to bow to geopolitical pressure from Israel and the US. Emphasizing the deep civilizational ties between India and Iran, Owaisi said that the Prime Minister's personal presence at the state funeral is very important at this critical juncture. He argued that India needs to boldly prove on the global stage that it is an independent power and will not be cowed down by Tel Aviv's or Washington's aggressive geopolitical moves. The MP stressed that sending only an official delegation would be a big diplomatic disappointment and not befitting respect to a historically important ally, which has always supported New Delhi on international forums.
