Owaisi Slams Congress Leadership Over Alleged Double Standards

Highlighting the deep fissures in the opposition camp, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has launched a scathing attack on the Congress leadership. He said the Congress is "allergic" to aligning with him, but at the same time expects his party to support him on the street. Owaisi's scathing remarks come in the context of the mega-rally of the India Alliance at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan. He has categorically disassociated himself from the rally and said "I have nothing to do with it." He also made it clear that his fight on the issue of SIR (Special Intensive Revision) is in court and not on a political platform. The main reason for Owaisi's anger is the contradictory attitude of the Congress. The Congress and its allies have repeatedly denied any electoral pact with AIMIM. Uttar Pradesh Congress working president Imran Masood has categorically said that the "secular" form of leadership was not in sync with the Congress.
