Pakistan-India Tensions Escalate as Military Chiefs Visit Kashmir Borders

Political tensions between India and Pakistan have been heightened by statements by the Prime Minister of Pakistan after India threatened to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty. Meanwhile, the Chief of the Army Staff visited the borders in North Kashmir and took stock of the operational preparedness of the troops deployed there. The Chief of the Army Staff, General Dheeraj Seth, visited forward areas in North and Central Kashmir, including forward bases in Kupwara and Budgam districts. He emphasised that sustained vigilance and swift intelligence-based operations are required to deal with emerging terrorist and other hostile threats in Jammu and Kashmir. The ADGPI (Additional Directorate General of Public Information), in a post on X, said, "General Seth visited the Rashtriya Rifles Sector Headquarters under the Chinar Corps at Srinagar and reviewed the operational preparedness for the counter-insurgency operation." The Chief of the Army Staff was briefed on the current security situation and the steps taken to detect, contain and decisively respond to terrorist threats. General Seth appreciated the high level of operational preparedness, intelligence and professionalism displayed by the General Staff.
