Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir Protests Continue Amid Election Boycott

More than 2 months have passed since the uprising in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), but the protesters are not ready to give up. The new epicenter of the uprising, Chinar Chowk and D Chowk in Rawalakot, are full of protesters. After the threat of Sardar Aman Khan, the Election Commission of PoK has indefinitely postponed the voting for 7 seats in the election for 11 seats to be held on August 10, citing security reasons. The election on Monday will be held only in three seats in the Bagh district of PoK and one seat in the Haveli district. The elections for these 4 seats to be held on August 10 have also been announced by the protesters. On the contrary, 72 hours before the voting, a public meeting of Shehbaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and Bilawal Bhutto's PPP was held in the Bagh district of PoK. The effect of the poll boycott in PoK was clearly visible in both the public meetings. From June 9, the bus service between Punjab and PoK is closed. The crowd of PML workers was seen sitting in the rally of PML (NAL) in Sana's Punjab.
