Pakistan Seeks UN Intervention Over Alleged Indian Violations of Indus Waters Treaty

Pakistan has once again reached the United Nations against India. Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has appealed to the UN Security Council (UNSC) to pay attention to India. Pakistan alleges that India is violating the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan wants the UNSC to intervene in this matter and stop India. The Indus Waters Treaty was signed in 1960. It was made by the World Bank. The purpose of this agreement was to calculate how India and Pakistan would share the water of the Indus River and its tributaries. It was decided by this agreement. This agreement has been controlling the water sharing between the two countries since 1960. In April 2025, a major terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In this attack, 26 people lost their lives. After this attack, India took a big decision and suspended the Indus Waters Treaty. India said that it is no longer a permanent representative of Pakistan in the UN. This is why Pakistan is not getting access to the UN.
