Police have arrested the main suspect in the killing of a Sikh couple inside a gurdwara in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The elderly Sikh couple lived in the gurdwara and were both sewadars. The sewadars work as caretakers of the gurdwara. The elderly couple were shot dead on Wednesday. After this, many Indian leaders urged the Pakistani administration to take strict action against the accused. Now the police have arrested the main suspect. The victims have been identified as Jagannath and his wife Asma Wanti. They were sewadars of the gurdwara in Babu Mohalla of Mardan district, about 60 kilometers northwest of Peshawar. They were shot dead inside the gurdwara on Wednesday. At a press conference on Thursday, Mardan District Police Officer Masood Ahmed Bangash said that the main suspect in the case has been arrested. The suspect has been identified as Sher Shah, a resident of Amzugri. Counter-terrorism officials said that the suspects are senior officials of the police department or a joint team of the banned terror organisation, the ISI.
