Sharad Pawar has slammed the central government over rising inflation and hike in domestic cooking gas (LPG) prices in the country. He claimed that the burden of ever-increasing prices of essential commodities is falling on the common man, for which the government will have to pay a political price. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar claimed that people across the country are facing difficulties due to inflation and questioned the government's stand that price rise is under control. Asked about the recent hike in LPG prices, Pawar said, "The Prime Minister says inflation is being controlled. If this is the control, then it means giving jitters to the people in instalments. Those responsible for this will have to pay a political price." Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of reversing from its earlier stand on inflation and said that the ruling party was no longer showing concern for the issues affecting the common man, as was the case during the UPA rule.
