Kolkata: The political battleground in West Bengal heated up on Saturday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching a blistering attack on the opposition parties from the ground of Katwa. Addressing a huge gathering at Katwa in Purba Bardhaman district, PM Modi categorically said, "Bengal is now ready for change." He vowed to root out the "reign of fear" of the current government in the state. The PM's confidence was oozing from the stage and he claimed that the ruling party was now in panic after seeing the growing public support for the BJP. "Infiltration" and "corruption" were the main issues of the rally. PM Modi issued a stern warning to illegal immigrants, saying "every infiltrator should pack his bags, because now everyone will be held accountable." He alleged that the rights of the poor and farmers were being looted through false Aadhaar cards and ration cards. To eradicate corruption, he made a big announcement in the court, a BJP-led government, a retired Supreme Court judge and a "white paper" on the state's security system.
