Protesters Demand Changes to India's Reservation System; Officials Assure No Tampering

A protest was recently launched at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on 21 August demanding sweeping changes in India's reservation system. A large number of protesters had gathered at Jantar Mantar demanding changes in the reservation system and advocating caste-based reservations in public educational institutions and government jobs to be replaced by income-based quotas. On this demonstration and reservation, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya has made a big statement. On the question of reservation in an interview to ABP News, he said, "The reservation that is being given according to the Constitution will be given as it was being given, or is being given. There was no tampering with the reservation, nor will there be any."
