Punjab Vidhan Sabha Begins Monsoon Session, Focus on Education Fee Regulation Bill

The monsoon session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha begins today, i.e. Monday. The session will continue till August 10. The government is expected to table several important bills and public interest issues in the House. Detailed discussions are likely to be held between the treasury and opposition benches on various issues. As per the proposed schedule, the House will pay homage to prominent personalities who passed away after the last session. Regular proceedings will begin on the first day. Legislative business will be held on August 4, 5, 7, and 10, while August 6 will be a non-government business day. August 8 and 9 will be holidays. The most important bill of this session is being considered to be the Punjab Unaided Educational Institutions Fee Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The government wants to regulate the fee hike of private schools through this bill. The government has already decided to cap the annual fee hike at five per cent. The state government has also said that the extra fee has been raised from the previous three years.
