Zelensky urged a direct meeting between the two leaders so that the war can end peacefully. Zelensky said peace is only possible if the two countries negotiate directly. He also called for a complete ceasefire. The Kremlin confirmed it had received the letter. He said Russia had to reach an understanding "as soon as possible, but only if the Russian military claims that the conflict is close to 2440" were accepted by Putin.
