Rajkot's Seat Rotation Changes Political Landscape Ahead of Municipal Elections

RAJKOT, DAT 9: There has been a change in the structure of ward-wise reservation and general seats as per rotation for 72 seats of 18 wards of the Municipal Corporation. This has changed the political equations drastically. Even if the party wants to give tickets to some of the corporators of the last term, the corporators of the last term affected by the reservation of the current seat will have to start contesting elections or will have to contest from other wards. Congress has announced the names of 40 candidates and the Aam Aadmi Party has started campaigning for more than 10 candidates. The change in the new rotation has affected the number of candidates of all the parties. Congress has also been forced to change the candidates of the last election this time. The BJP has also not been able to take any decision in Gandhinagar. The complex structure of the rotation of seats and its effects have been implemented in the general elections held for a total of 18 wards of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation in 2021, 202, out of which only four wards have been changed.
