Rape Cases Rock Madhya Pradesh: 12-Year-Old Girl Raped by Vegetable Seller; Lawyer Assaults Accused in Court

A shocking case of sexual assault has come to light from Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district, where a 12-year-old girl staying at a tribal government hostel was allegedly raped repeatedly by a vegetable seller. Police said the accused, identified as Altaf, used to supply vegetables to the hostel and allegedly lured the minor on false pretexts. According to the police, the accused sexually assaulted the girl over a period of nearly four months and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the abuse, forcing her into silence. The crime came to light after the girl’s health deteriorated and she complained of severe abdominal pain. Medical examination later revealed that she was three months pregnant. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal. A case has been registered at Kohefiza police station, while the case diary has also been sent to Khurai police station in Sagar district for further investigation. The accused has been arrested. In a separate incident from the Kohefiza area, an accused arrested for allegedly raping a Class 11 student was produced before a court, where lawyers allegedly surrounded and assaulted him within the court premises. Police personnel intervened to rescue the accused, leading to a scuffle between the police and some lawyers. A video of the confrontation later surfaced. Police said the accused, identified as Osaf Ali, allegedly raped the student inside a car and later blackmailed her using objectionable videos. He is also accused of pressuring the victim over religious conversion, promising marriage, and extorting money from her. Assistant Commissioner of Police Anil Bajpai said the accused had taken the girl on a motorcycle to the Khanugaon area, where he sexually assaulted her and continued to threaten her repeatedly. A case has been registered, the accused has been arrested, and further interrogation is underway.
