West Bengal and Tamil Nadu assembly elections on Thursday (April 23) saw bumper voting. Out of 294 seats in Bengal, 152 seats saw 92.56% voting in the first phase. All 234 seats in Tamil Nadu saw 85.13% voting. The highest voter turnout in both states since independence. Earlier, the highest voter turnout in Tamil Nadu was 78.29% in 2011, while the highest in Bengal was 84.72% in 2011. Earlier, Assam, Keralam, and Puducherry also recorded a record voter turnout on April 9.
