According to Dr. Badri Nath Bhogal, Head of the Department of Medicine at Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua, the disease is now not limited to the elderly. It is also spreading rapidly among children and adolescents. The current situation is that two to three out of every 100 patients who come for treatment are adolescents. If it is not controlled in time, the situation may become more serious in the coming years. According to Bhogal, Type-2 diabetes was earlier considered a disease of adults but now Type-1 diabetes cases are also being reported in children.
