RLD Gains Strength in Uttar Pradesh's Electoral Battleground

Uttar Pradesh is the biggest electoral battleground where the ambitions of smaller parties are flourishing. The Rashtriya Lok Dal, which has influence in several western districts, has stepped up its electoral game. The party is holding more than half a dozen conferences on the one hand, and has put a list of 36 assembly seats in front of the BJP. There are several seats where the BJP has been struggling. Political analysts say that the RLD may lose 20 seats in the alliance. However, the BJP will avoid giving seats to the RLD in Purvanchal. Those who are preparing to contest from Awadh and Purvanchal will suffer a setback. RLD office-bearers say that in 2022, the party demanded 50 seats from the SP, but talks were held on 33 seats. In this too, several Samajwadi Party faces were fielded on the RLD ticket. The RLD got the maximum success in the last election. In the by-election in Muzaffarnagar, 2024, RLD candidate Madan Jayant Chaudhary won nine seats.
