Rohini Acharya Calls for Dialogue Over Force in Response to Police Lathi-Charge

On Monday (July 20, 2026), during the Parliament House march, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in Delhi was lathi-charged by the police. Tear gas shells were fired. Several youths were injured. On this protest and lathi-charge, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Rohini Acharya said something heart-warming. Rohini Acharya shared a video of the lathi-charge with her X handle. Along with this video, she wrote, "Dissent must be responded to with dialogue, not force." In the post, she further writes, "Protesting in a democracy is the constitutional right of citizens, political parties and groups. The government's lathi-charge on protesters and any kind of repressive action is an attack on the constitutionally guaranteed right to freedom of expression and peaceful protest. Every voice of dissent must be addressed with dialogue, not force." The response to dissent must be through dialogue, not force. In a democracy, political parties and citizens have the right to protest. Rohini has also called for any kind of lathi-charge by the government.
