Sachin Ahir Joins Ruling Alliance, Deals Blow to Shiv Sena (UBT)

Maharashtra politics has once again witnessed a major upheaval. Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Sachin Ahir has been elected unopposed as the candidate of the ruling Mahayuti alliance on Wednesday. Ahir had switched sides on Tuesday and joined the Shinde faction. Soon after, he also filed his nomination for the post of Deputy Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. His move not only created a stir in the political circles, but it was also considered a big blow to the Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders. This development comes at a time when six rebel Lok Sabha MPs of the Shiv Sena (UBT) joined Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena last week. In such a situation, Sachin Ahir's going with the Mahayuti is being considered as another big political loss for Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackeray. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis congratulated Sachin Ahir on the floor of the House.
