Sajjan Kumar, former Congress MP and leader of the Indian National Congress, died on Thursday. According to Safdarjung Hospital sources, he was brought to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead after examination. On receiving the news of his death, his son Jag Pravesh Kumar reached Safdarjung Hospital. Sajjan Kumar was serving a life sentence in Tihar Jail after being convicted in cases related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He was suffering from health problems. Sajjan Kumar, former Member of Parliament and leader of the Indian National Congress, is no more. Born on 23 September 1945, Sajjan Kumar started politics in the 1970s. He became a councillor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, then a general secretary of the Pradesh Congress Committee, in 1980 and was considered a strong member of the Congress after Sanjay Gandhi was elected as an MP from the outer Delhi constituency in 2018.
