Samajwadi Party Intensifies Efforts to Win Dalit Votes Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections

With just a few months left for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, political activity has intensified in the state with the votes of about 21 per cent of the state's Dalit population. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav today called a crucial meeting of office bearers of the state's reserved assembly seats. Through this meeting, he tried to sharpen the party's strategy on Dalit votes. The Samajwadi Party's focus is on 65 of the total 86 reserved seats in the state where the party lost in the last assembly elections. The party has set a target of increasing about 27,000 votes in each assembly segment. The party's main focus is on Dalit society. Akhilesh Yadav is constantly raising Dalit and constitutional issues. Recently, he claimed that 151 statues of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar have been vandalized in 72 districts of Uttar Pradesh under the BJP government. Samajwadi Party's strategy also includes strengthening the party's organization among the Dalit society. BSP chief Akhilesh Yadav wants to take advantage of the blue dress of the Samajwadi Party and the students who have been trapped in the party's student assembly.
