Amid the ongoing war between Iran and the US, seven oil tankers are reported to have been damaged in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state television on Thursday quoted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy as saying that four tankers caught fire after being targeted while transferring oil, while three others were damaged and unable to move after being hit by naval mines. Reuters has also mentioned this report. Meanwhile, Iran's top security official has warned that if Iran's assets were attacked, the economic infrastructure of countries supporting the war could also be targeted. Iranian state television reports did not provide information on the flags of the ships, possible casualties, or other circumstances of the damage. If the news of the loss of the seven ships is confirmed, it would be the largest IRGC shipwreck in one strategic waterway since the start of the Iran war on February 28. Reports from the IRGC have warned of the loss of oil in one of the strait's parts if the United States attempts to damage another.
