Shiv Sena (Uddhav Faction) Faces Split Threat as MPs Absent from Meeting

The Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) is once again staring at the possibility of a major split. On Thursday, 6 out of 9 Lok Sabha MPs were absent from the parliamentary party meeting called by party MP Anil Desai in Delhi. These 6 MPs are two-thirds of the total strength of Shiv Sena (UBT) in the Lok Sabha. Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) has issued a show-cause notice to all the absentee MPs in view of this open rebellion and has started the process of cancelling their membership. The buzz in Maharashtra politics these days is about Operation Tiger. There is speculation that 7 out of the current 9 MPs of Shiv Sena (UBT) are in touch with Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and are considering switching sides.
