Shiv Sena's Sachin Ahir Files Nomination for Deputy Chairman Post in Maharashtra Legislative Council

Earlier in the day, Ahir, a close aide of Aaditya Thackeray, surprised everyone by filing his nomination for the election to the post of Deputy Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council with the support of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance. Shinde told reporters, "Shiv Sena MLAs had earlier elected Sachin Ahir to the Legislative Council. With this, the ruling party is now supporting him for the post of Deputy Chairman of the Council." He said that former state minister Ahir has filed his nomination for the post of Deputy Chairman with the support of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance. Given the numerical strength of the alliance, he is expected to be elected easily. The election for the post of Deputy Chairman of the Council is scheduled for July 1. Shinde further said that when Ahir became an MLC, it was our MLAs who voted in his favour. He was elected to the Upper House of the state legislature by Shiv Sena MLAs, who won on the'bow and arrow'symbol. "He is still with us." Referring to Ahir's nomination, Shinde recalled that he had filed his nomination for the post of Deputy Chairman on June 30, 2022. He recalled that he had submitted his nomination as Chief Minister on the same day.
