Sonam Wangchuk on Saturday said that peaceful demonstrations act as a feedback for the government and motivate them to work better. He cited the example of protests in Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, saying that when people do not get a chance to speak out peacefully, things can get worse. India Today reported. Speaking at the IPF festival in Mumbai, Wangchuk said that demonstrations are allowed outside parliament in many countries. According to him, demonstrations act as a pressure reducer for the government and should not be held too far away from the centres of power. Referring to India, he said that demonstrations are allowed outside parliament in countries like Britain, Norway and Sweden. He said that New Delhi's Jantar Mantar is also far away from parliament. He said that peaceful demonstrations are a source of feedback and pressure for the government. This helps the government to work better when people are concerned about the issues and Wangchuk's party is concerned.
