South Korean President Lee Jae-myung Begins Three-Day Visit to India for Economic Cooperation

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung arrived in India on Sunday on a three-day visit. He is accompanied by First Lady Kim Hye-kyung and a large delegation that includes ministers, senior officials and business leaders. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met him and will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. The visit is expected to see major agreements ranging from shipbuilding to AI, semiconductors and defence. India and South Korea have a'Special Strategic Partnership '. That is, the two countries not only trade but also work together in defence, technology and many other important matters. The relationship between the two countries has strengthened steadily over the years. The two countries had a major trade agreement in 2010, since which trade has grown significantly. Total trade between the two countries in 2024 was more than $251 billion. South Korea's National Security Advisor Wing Sung-lak said in Seoul that from this visit, he will launch a new chapter of economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the Republic of Korea.
