SP and Congress Likely to Contest UP Elections Together Again, With Key Conditions

It is almost certain that the SP and Congress will contest the 2027 assembly elections together again in Uttar Pradesh. It is also emerging that many leaders and workers in the state Congress are not in favour of the alliance. Their concern is that limited seats in the alliance make the party organization sluggish or inactive in the districts where they do not have a candidate. Perhaps this concern of the workers is now agreed with the party high command. That is why this time the alliance partner has proposed to the Samajwadi Party that the number of seats may increase or decrease, but the Congress wants to have a candidate on the Congress symbol in every district of the state. It is reported that this has been almost agreed upon. The Congress has been marginalized in Uttar Pradesh for three decades. In 2017, the hopes of the party workers gained ground when election strategist Prashant Kishor (PK) took charge of the strategy.
