Colombo: Sri Lankan President Anura Kumar Dissanayake has congratulated C. Joseph Vijay on becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief C. Joseph Vijay was sworn in as the Chief Minister today. Vijay's TVK emerged as a major force in the Assembly elections by winning 108 seats. He secured the support of Congress, CPI, CPI (M), VCK and IUML to cross the majority mark of 118 seats and is now going to lead a coalition government. Vijay along with his colleagues met Governor Arlekar at Lok Bhavan on Saturday and handed over a letter of support of 120 MLAs to him. The Governor has also asked Vijay to prove his majority by May 13. Tamil Nadu politics has a profound impact on Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan politics and in this regard, the Sri Lankan President's statement is quite significant. President Dissanayake said, "Our history and Sri Lankan culture, culture and entrepreneurship will continue for generations to come as India and Sri Lanka continue to strengthen their economic and economic ties."
