Srinagar MP Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, who is preparing to break away from the National Conference (NC), said that after his decision on November 3, he will go to the people and talk to people with similar political thinking. He needs people who have principles and character and are willing to take responsibility for the rights of Jammu and Kashmir. He clarified that his search is not limited to legislators, ministers or established leaders. Anyone with similar views, from people working in the fields to students, doctors, businessmen and people in jail, can be a part of this struggle. The main reason for Ruhullah's discontent is the National Conference's stand on the issue of challenging the decisions related to the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019. He says that the party had promised the people in the elections to struggle against these decisions, but after coming to power, its emphasis shifted to restoring statehood.
