In a major setback to Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, the Supreme Court has refused to hear his plea. The Supreme Court has sent the petition to the High Court. Now the High Court is requested to hear it by November 16. Azam Khan had challenged his arrest and judicial custody by the ED. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Azam Khan, said that he is 80 years old. He is being tortured continuously. Sibal said that as soon as he came out of jail, the ED arrested him in the 2019 case. The purpose of this action is to keep him out of the next election. The bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said that he should first keep his word in the High Court. His petition is being transferred to the High Court and the High Court is being requested to hear it as soon as possible. Azam Khan was granted bail in two PAN card cases by the Allahabad High Court on October 31. He was released from Rampur Jail after getting bail.
