Surat: The political heat is at its peak in Surat, the financial capital of south Gujarat, as political parties gear up to take on the ruling party in the Surat Municipal Corporation. On the last day of filing forms, more than 800 nominations were filed for 120 seats in Surat Municipal Corporation. The BJP and the Congress have fielded strong candidates in all 120 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party has fielded candidates in 114 seats. The crowd of candidates and supporters at the Zila Seva Sadan office was so huge that the administration was forced to introduce a'token system'in the afternoon to maintain order. The process of candidates present in the office complex was continued till late in the night. This time in the electoral battle, not only the major parties, but also a large number of independent and other small parties have filed their nominations. The BJP, Congress and AAP have also filed dummy candidates along with the main candidates so that if the forms are not cancelled due to technical reasons, then there is a possibility of filling up more than 120 seats in the Surat Municipal Corporation.
