Tamil Nadu's New Chief Minister Vijay Unveils Welfare Schemes and Criticizes Previous Government

Chennai: Within hours of being sworn in on Sunday, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay, has opened the floodgates of welfare schemes for the people. As soon as he assumed office, he signed several important files prioritizing poll promises, including the historic decision to provide 200 units of free electricity per month to domestic consumers. In addition, by announcing the formation of a special security force to ensure the safety of women in the state, he has clearly indicated that his government is committed to the promises made to the public. After the swearing-in ceremony, the Chief Minister, showing political aggression, launched a scathing attack on the previous DMK government. He announced that a white paper will be released on the state's financial administration from 2021 to 2026, as the previous government has left a huge debt of 10 lakh crores on the state. Vijay stressed that the public needs to know under what difficult economic circumstances they have been entrusted with the responsibility of the state. This white paper is also showing the real economic situation of the state and the relief measures for free travel of women in public transport.
