The Tangkhul Naga Long submitted an 11-point memorandum to the central government, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the historical and structural causes of the Manipur conflict. The apex body sought a permanent political solution, the revocation of the Suspension of Operations agreement and the immediate withdrawal of the Assam Rifles from Naga-inhabited areas. The representation was submitted through the deputy commissioner of Ukhrul district on November 5, 2026. Four other Tangkhul Naga organisations joined the apex body in calling for immediate central intervention. The groups cited continued attacks on Naga civilians, unchecked illegal immigration from Myanmar and unequal political representation between the hill and valley regions. The submission coincided with massive public rallies organised across the Ukhrul and Kamjong district headquarters. Hundreds of participants marched under the aegis of the United Naga Council to demand an end to the ongoing political crisis. Demonstrators protested against what they described as proxy warfare being conducted in the region. Participants from Kamjong and multiple neighbouring border villages converged for the main demonstrations. The protest marches commenced at the Police Gate and Kamjong High School Gate before culminating in a mass gathering at the Awontang Traffic Point. Addressing the gathering, legal experts alleged that the Government of India was using specific Kuki groups to wage war against the Naga community. Speakers further accused the Assam Rifles of actively colluding with Kuki militants. Public leaders raised concerns over demographic changes and called for total unity among various Naga armed factions. Following the main rallies, the Tangkhul Shanao Long submitted a separate memorandum addressed to both the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This second petition was formally delivered through the deputy commissioner of Kamjong district. The core memorandum traced the recent escalation of violence in Naga-inhabited areas to February 7, 2026. Documentation attached to the submission stated that a Naga civilian was assaulted on that date. The memorandum further detailed the burning of more than 23 Tangkhul Naga houses in the Litan area the following day.
