Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was denied permission to visit the United States. In response to questions during the regular press conference of the Ministry of External Affairs, Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the Ministry of External Affairs looks after the visit of Chief Ministers and other dignitaries to give them political clearance. He further said that in such cases, whatever programme is made, it should be according to the post and purpose of the visit. Jaiswal further said that in this case, it was not the case in the United States and hence the clearance was not given. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said that Revanth Reddy was given clearance to visit the United Kingdom. Significantly, earlier it was reported that the Telangana CM was not allowed to visit the United States by the Central Government. The Chief Minister's Office said that Revanth Reddy is currently in London and from here he had plans to visit the United States and return to Hyderabad on 30 August. The CMO statement further said that the official visit of Telangana led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to the United States "has not been approved by the Ministry of External Affairs."
