Responding to a question on why Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy did not get permission to visit the US, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday (August 21) said that the CM's itinerary was not considered suitable for the purpose of his visit. CM Reddy had said that the central government has denied him permission to visit the US. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is currently on a visit to London. He had planned to visit the US and return to Hyderabad on August 30. The Chief Minister's Office reported that the official delegation of Telangana Rising led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has been forced to cancel their visit to the US after the Ministry of External Affairs denied permission. According to the CMO, the ministry has said that the approval has not been given from a political point of view. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal later clarified that the visits of the chief ministers and other dignitaries are assessed by the ministry before political clearance is given. He however said that the proposed itinerary and the purpose of the visit "must be in line" with the US.
