Iran's Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) has claimed to have shot down a US MQ-9 long-range drone over the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian air defenses fired a missile that hit a US drone after which it fell into the Persian Gulf. The US side did not immediately confirm the claim. Meanwhile, Iran also claimed to have carried out a major attack on a US military base in the UAE. According to the Iranian military, dozens of explosive drones targeted US troops and helicopters at Al Minhad Airbase on Monday morning. The Iranian military described it as an action in response to the US attack on Lark Island. The Iranian military said Al Minhad is an important logistics and air transport hub for foreign forces. Iran has warned of further retaliatory measures against US troops. Tensions between Iran and the US have been steadily escalating since the US attack on Lark Island. US President Donald Trump has also claimed that in addition to Lark Island, the US military has now taken aggressive actions against Iranian forces.
