Barabanki: In an old case of assault registered at Kothi police station in 2004, the court acquitted three accused giving them benefit of doubt and lack of evidence. The trial went on for almost 22 years. Read Trending VideosAccording to the order, Khanapur resident Shiv Bahadur Singh had filed a report against Om Prakash Singh, Balbir Singh, Om Prakash Tiwari and Barsati of the same village. It was alleged that all of them had tried to plough the field forcefully and were attacked with sticks and sharp-edged weapons when they resisted. The prosecution could not prove the charges beyond doubt during the court hearing. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ruchi Tiwari acquitted Om Prakash Singh, Balbir Singh and Barsati in view of the contradictions in the statements of the witnesses and the weakness of the evidence. The fourth accused in the case, Om Prakash Tiwari, had died during the trial of the case.
