The TMC faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee demanded on Friday (7 August 2026) from Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to create more regional tribunals to hear disputes related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in West Bengal. The faction said that if necessary steps are not taken to protect the rights of genuine voters, it may approach the court. In addition, the faction raised the issue of loudspeakers being removed from mosques and temples after the court order on noise pollution. There are indications of seeking the court's intervention in this matter as well. These demands were put forward in a meeting between the delegation of the CM and the TMC faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee at the state secretariat Nabanna. This was considered an important meeting between the state government and Ritabrata Banerjee's faction after the split in the Trinamool Congress. Several sensitive issues were discussed in the meeting. However, under the arrangement of the SIR, there was a difference of opinion between the two sides.
