AJUP chief Humayun Kabir offered his seat to former Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee to contest the by-election from the Rejinagar assembly seat in Murshidabad. Humayun Kabir, once considered a close associate of Mamata Banerjee, commented on the current political situation, saying that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is not in a strong position in the state. He further said that Ritabrata and Sandipan have betrayed Mamata. Mamata should remain in parliamentary politics and they are offering her the seat from Rejinagar. AJUP chief Humayun Kabir said, if Mamata Banerjee tells him, she is willing to give the seat from Rejinagar, which she had earlier announced for her son. He cited Abhishek as the main reason for the current state of the party. Humayun Kabir was a TMC leader until a few months ago. But before the Bengal assembly elections, he took a different path. After splitting from TMC, Humayun Kabir formed his own party, Aam Janta Party, and won nine seats in the West Bengal assembly elections. He won both the seats in two months.
