TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee Seeks Restoration of Z-Plus Security Cover in Calcutta High Court

Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee has approached the Calcutta High Court seeking restoration of the Z-plus security cover withdrawn after the change of government in West Bengal on Monday (September 28, 2026). Actually, Abhishek Banerjee had Z-plus security during the TMC government led by former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, but after the change of power in the state, the government removed his Z-plus security. Now Abhishek Banerjee has demanded the restoration of this security cover. According to news agency IANS, Ayan Bhattacharya, the lawyer of TMC MP from Diamond Harbour in West Bengal, Abhishek Banerjee, has appealed for an urgent hearing of the case in the Calcutta High Court, raising concerns about his security. The case was presented before a single judge bench of Justice Krishna Rao in the High Court. The court allowed Abhishek Banerjee to file a petition and fixed the date for hearing on October 6, however, the court refused to hear the case immediately.
