TMC Raises Concerns Over Voter List Discrepancies in West Bengal

These days, the TMC's list of 291 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Bengal has been published. The same day, the TMC delegation went to the office of the state chief electoral officer. Chandrima Bhattacharya, Partha Bhowmik and Mahua Moitra went to the office of the state commission. They drew the attention of the commission to several issues. In the meeting, concerns were raised about the discrepancies in the voter list data and the non-compliance of the Supreme Court's order regarding the release of the supplementary voter list. After meeting with the chief electoral officer, Chandrima told reporters, "The list that was published on February 28, the names of seven crore four lakh 59 thousand 284 voters were published. On the order issued by the commission on March 15, the number of voters in Bengal has become six crore 44 lakh 52 thousand 609. How did this happen? We need to know. We have not received any confirmation of this. Six million are still pending. Then how is there such a difference?" She added, "If the names of those who are pending, the honorable people are left out."
