TMC Rebellion: Party Leaders Blame Factionalism and Leadership for Defeat in West Bengal Assembly Elections

TMC Rebellion: After a crushing defeat to the Bharatiya Janata Party in the West Bengal Assembly elections, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is on the boil. Several senior party leaders and MLAs have rebelled against the leadership of Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee. After the historic defeat at the hands of the BJP in Bengal, Mamata Banerjee's party is witnessing the biggest internal conflict ever. Leaders who were in the party's discipline for years are now publicly blaming the leadership and the factionalism for the defeat. Many MLAs have blamed the working style of General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee for the defeat. Murshidabad MLA Niamat Sheikh has directly alleged that there is only'lobby'and factionalism going on in the party. He said that instead of knowing the ground reality, it is too much to rely on social media and technology. Many MLAs have also expressed resentment against the reliance on the election strategizing agency (I-PAC).
