TMC Speaker Biman Banerjee Leaves Office After Party's Defeat

After the TMC's defeat in the assembly elections, Speaker Biman Banerjee left his office the next day. On Tuesday afternoon, he came to the assembly and immediately ordered to vacate his office. Within a short time, all his belongings were taken away in two cars. On Tuesday afternoon, outgoing Speaker Biman Banerjee suddenly appeared in the assembly. The incident sparked speculation in the assembly. Long-time colleagues crowded the assembly premises to see him off. Many people expressed gratitude to him for his 15 years of work experience and even drove him. On his departure, Biman said, "If you are in power, one day you have to leave your office - this is normal." However, he made it clear that he will come to the assembly as an MLA in the future and will remain in touch with everyone. Notably, he was first elected as an MLA during the changeover under Mamata Banerjee in 2011. He was also in charge in 2016 and 2021. Although he won the Baruipur West seat in this election, it is virtually impossible for him to continue as the speaker.
