TMC All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee stepped up his attack on the BJP government at the Centre. At a public meeting in Binpur, Jhargram, in support of TMC candidate Birbaha Hansda, he directly accused the BJP of trying to change the Constitution. In addition, his clear message to the voters was :'Vote for action, not religion.'Abhishek's speech at Friday's rally covered a wide range of national and state-level issues. Referring to the volatile situation in the Middle East, he claimed that it was already having a significant impact on India's energy market. He also complained that there were problems with the supply of cooking gas. Without stopping there, he warned,'The central government will raise the price of cooking gas to Rs 2,000 once the Bengal elections are over. Petrol and diesel prices will also reach Rs 200.'This comment caused a stir in the political circles. Though there was no official response from the BJP, the Trinamool camp's demand was to increase the financial pressure on the common man. In his speech in Bishnupur, Abhishek also spoke about the development of the state.
