Trinamool Congress Faces Internal Crisis as Leaders Resign, Including Mayor Krishna Chakraborty

Meanwhile, new leaders of the party have tendered their resignations. Another name has been added on Thursday (June 4, 2026) and that is Krishna Chakraborty. Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Krishna Chakraborty has resigned from the post of Mayor of Bidhannagar city in West Bengal's capital Kolkata on Thursday (June 4, 2026) citing personal reasons. She said in a letter to the Commissioner of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC), "I tender my resignation from the post of Mayor of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation due to personal reasons." Meanwhile, Chakraborty told the media, "I have resigned from the post of Mayor, but I will continue to work for the citizens as a Councillor. I want to take some time off from my post as West Bengal Municipal Corporation."
