The initiative will target pregnant women and their support networks who come to the US to give birth through visa fraud so that the child gets birthright American citizenship. This is "birth tourism," and why Trump is angry. According to the US Constitution, any child born on US soil automatically gets citizenship. The Trump administration believes that foreign nationals, especially wealthy people from countries like China, are abusing the law. According to White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly, these practices place a high financial burden on taxpayers and are also a national security risk. Trump has also ordered that any parent who gives birth to a child in the US should not face a crime.
