US President Donald Trump has stepped up his attacks on Michigan Senate candidate Abdul Al-Sayed. He called Al-Sayed a jihadi member of the Muslim Brotherhood. Trump compared Al-Sayed to the September 11 attackers and demanded that if he is elected to the US Senate in the November midterm elections, he must go through a metal detector. Addressing an election rally on Sunday in Port Huron, Michigan, Trump urged voters to support Republican candidate and former Congressman Mike Rogers. He accused Democrats of allowing violent and anti-American extremists into the United States. Al-Sayed has denied multiple times that he has any ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Trump referred to Todd Beamer, a Michigan resident who helped fight the hijackers of United Airlines Flight 93 during the September 11, 2001 attacks. El-Sayed, a Michigan congressman, said that Todd would have to fight to stop him from entering the US Capitol 25 years later.
