Tufanganj Violence: BJP Booth President Seriously Injured in Clash with TMC Workers

Tufanganj: As voting nears, the shadow of political violence looms large over Tufanganj in Cooch Behar. TMC and BJP workers clashed at Balarampur Bazar in Tufanganj-1 block on Tuesday night. Allegedly, TMC-backed miscreants shouted'Go Back'slogans at the BJP candidate during the campaign. Later, the altercation turned into a scuffle. BJP's booth number 1 president Moloy Das was seriously injured. The injured booth president Moloy Das is currently undergoing treatment at Tufanganj Sub-Divisional Hospital. From the hospital, he alleged, "We were peacefully campaigning with the candidate in the shop and shop. Suddenly, a group of youths jumped on us from the TMC office and hit me on the head with a rod." Condemning the incident, BJP candidate Malati Rabha MLA said, "TMC goons are obstructing our campaign. They are afraid of us."
