Chennai: The results of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are out. A total of 53 women candidates were in the fray from different assembly seats in Chennai city. Out of these 53 candidates, only two women candidates have won. Both are from TVK. Both are first-timers. The most talked about among them is 36-year-old MR Pallavi, who fought this battle in eight months of pregnancy. MR Pallavi has won from Thiru Vi Ka Nagar. Pallavi has won from Thiru Vi Ka Nagar assembly seat. J Kamakshi has won from Pallavaram. Both are from TVK and contested for the first time. MR Pallavi has won with 22,333 votes and J Kamakshi has won with 54,693 votes. Out of the 53 women candidates in the fray, there were 53 women candidates from different assembly seats in Chennai city. There were 20 independent candidates. There were 33 women candidates from recognised political parties. DMAK had fielded two women candidates. TVK had fielded 12 candidates while the BJP had fielded 12 candidates.
