The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) has unveiled a fresh batch of candidates for Assam’s Assembly elections , set for April 9, 2026. Party chief Pramod Boro finalized the names after consultations with the central and core committees, following an internal review process. In this announcement, four individuals have been chosen to contest in different constituencies across the state. Rakesh Brahma will represent 42 No. Baksa (ST), Nityananda Basumatary is set for 72 No. Gohpur, Baburam Basumatary will run from 66 No. Barchalla, and Manoj Basumatary will contest in 28 No. Boko-Chaygaon (ST). This selection reflects UPPL’s focus on strengthening its influence in areas with sizable tribal populations. Officials in the party said the candidates were chosen for their strong local connections and their proven ability to manage and lead party activities on the ground.
