US Election System: Paper Ballots and Electronic Scanners Ensure Security and Transparency

The US election is very different from India. In the US, EVMs are not used like in India, but American citizens vote mainly on paper ballots and these ballots are counted by electronic scanner machines. In a technologically advanced superpower like the US, even today paper ballots are used mainly for elections to ensure security, transparency and an impeccable system of audit (verification). At present, about 98% of the US voters cast their votes through some form of paper ballot or paper trail (paper record). In short, the US election model works on the hybrid principle of paper for voting and technology for counting. This system assures both the rapidity of technology and the safety of paper.
